A number of concerned parents were on hand for the Lawrence Unit #20 Board of Education meeting Wednesday held at the Lawrenceville High School Gym. The group wanted to know how the decision to enter into remote learning was made and to talk about the effect on their children’s academic and personal well-being. Superintendent Doug Daugherty told them that the decision was not an easy one and was made with the health and safety of all students and staff in mind in consultation with the Lawrence County Health Department. He also indicated that the current plan is to return to in-person instruction starting on Tuesday January 5th. He also added that the district will look to keep parents and guardians more informed of board actions and potential decisions through the district social platforms and through the news media.
