An early morning crash in winter weather  Wednesday on Interstate 70 in Indiana near Terre Haute led to the death of a southeastern Illinois man. Indiana State Police report that at around 3:40 a.m. Eastern Time, a 2005 Ford Mustang being driven by 23 year old Tanner Carpenter of Marshall was traveling west on the interstate at the Wabash River bridge. Carpenter lost control of the vehicle due to speed too fast for the slick road conditions and spun out of control into the concrete bridge barriers. The impact drove the car into the passing lane where it was hit by a 2014 Freightliner Semi in the drivers side. Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene.
