The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 7,359 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 117 deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have now been 863,477 cases and 14,509 deaths statewide. The latest Lawrence County Health Department statistics indicate 1,485 positive cases with 83 active. 2 people are hospitalized with 1,382 recovered and the death count is at 20. The Indiana State Department of Health reports 27 new cases Tuesday in Knox County bringing the total there to 2,557 cases. Another death was also noted Tuesday with the death toll rising to 33. The first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in Illinois Tuesday in Chicago and Peoria with 96 hospitals set to start vaccinations this week. The Pfizer COVID vaccine should be at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes this week.  Good Sam is an Indiana Phase 1 Vaccination site for three southwestern counties-Knox, Daviess and Pike and clinic immunizations are expected to start Friday for frontline health care workers.
