Organizers have announced the cancellation of the annual Vincennes Watermelon Drop on New Years Eve. Event chairman Steven Gott say the decision was a tough one to make, but to hold the event under ongoing COVID-19 protocols in Indiana was not feasible. The annual affair involved the dropping of watermelons onto a large platform at midnight in downtown Vincennes near the riverfront to usher in the new year. The Drop has received national attention and news network coverage for it’s unusual manner of celebrating the years end.
