INDIANA CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

The Indiana State Health Department reports that Knox County had 37 additional COVID-19 cases on Wednesday bringing the county total to 2,337. The death toll remains at 29. Governor Eric Holcomb Wednesday directed state hospitals to postpone or reschedule all non-emergency/critical in patient procedures for a 3 week period beginning now through Monday January 3rd. This is in an effort to preserve hospital intensive care unit capacity and lessen strains on hospitals and their personnel. He also ordered starting this weekend that all social gatherings including school extra-cirricular activities such as basketball be capped based on a county’s current metric. For counties classified as Red, that means a limit of 25 people and for counties classified as Orange such as Knox a limit of 50 people. Local health departments will not be able to grant permission for larger gatherings.
