COVID-19 SPIKE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 9,469 cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 125 more deaths from the disease. Since the pandemic began, there have been 674,089 cases across Illinois with 11,677 deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of 58 local residents who tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday. 38 of those cases are related to an outbreak within the county. All are currently quarantining at home with contact tracing underway. The IDPH is now reporting Lawrence County with 924 cases. 2 people are hospitalized. The Indiana State Department of Health reported 34 new cases of the virus on Tuesday in Knox County bringing the county total to 1,814. There were also 2 new deaths bringing the death toll to 19. Public health officials are urging people to avoid gathering with family and friends this Thanksgiving, fearing a large spike in cases in the days after the holiday leading into the weeks before Christmas.
