It is now official. The Illinois High School Association Board of Directors met virtually Thursday for an update on winter sports and voted to pause all sports and activities including boys and girls basketball beginning Friday, November 20th. In a statement released after the meeting, IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson said that given the rising COVID-19 cases across the state and region, the IHSA fully supports the IDPH and governor’s mitigations announced earlier and believe it is important for all IHSA member schools to do their part in following them so that there can be a return to high school sports participation as soon as possible. The IHSA will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and will meet again in mid-December to evaluate.
