MORE COVID-19 SPREAD IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday reported 12,601 new and probable cases of COVID-19 across the state with 97 additional deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department Tuesday recieved notification of 23 county residents who tested positive with 5 of those cases coming from a recent area outbreak. Those who tested positive are under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. With those new cases, the LCHD indicates there have been 678 positive cases of the disease with 196 of those being active. 4 people have been hospitalized while 472 people have recovered. There have been 10 deaths. Since the pandemic began, there have been 597,849 cases with 10,875 deaths statewide. To help in fighting the spread, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger issued more Teir-1 statewide restrictions to begin Friday. Museums, theaters, and casinos will have to close and grocery and large retail stores will see capacity limits. Gyms will remain open but group fitness classes will be prohibited.
