Theo Epstein is leaving the Chicago Cubs. The team made the announcement Tuesday with Epstein at Wrigley Field.  He will depart the organization Friday as the President of Baseball Operations after 8 years at the helm and be replaced by current general manager Jed Hoyer. Both Epstein and Hoyer joined the Cubs just prior to 2012 and led the team to the 2016 World Series title erasing a 108 year title drought. Under Epstein, the Cubs reached the NL playoffs five times, won 3 NL Central Division championships and reached the NL championship series three times. Epstein did indicate he would be taking some time off from baseball and look into other interests before a possible return to the game.
