COVID-19 CASES CONTINUE TO RISE

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced that there were 21,822 new cases of coronavirus across the state from Friday through Sunday this past weekend with 117 additional deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of 11 local residents testing positive on Halloween Saturday. The cases are not related and all have been placed under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. With those new cases, there have now been 395 positives with 96 of those active. 1 person remains hospitalized while 287 people have recovered. There have been 10 deaths in Lawrence County. Since the pandemic began, the IDPH has reported 417,280 cases with 9,792 deaths. With the increased spread of the disease across the state. Governor J.B. Pritzger and the IDPH Monday announced that Region 2 will now be under stricter mitigations starting Wednesday. That means that all regions of the state are now covered by the increased measures which includes cessation of indoor dining at resteraunts and bars among others.
