MORE COVID-19 CASES IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,363 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 56 additional deaths. Deaths were recorded in southeastern Illinois in Clark, Clay, Edgar, Wabash and Wayne counties. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of 5 county residents who tested positive for the disease Thursday. The cases are not related and all are currently under home quarantine with contact tracing ongoing. The LCHD now reports 369 positive cases in the county with 72 of those active. 3 people are hospitalized and 287 have recovered with 10 deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, the IDPH has reported 395,458 cases and 9,675 deaths. Governor J.B Pritzger and the IDPH are implementing restrictions on Region 3 in the state this weekend. That region contains the state capitol of Springfield. Now only 2 regions in the state-#2 and #6 which includes Lawrence County are not under new mitigation standards.
