MORE COVID-19 IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health Sunday reported 4,062 new cases of coronavirus across the state with 24 more deaths. The virus continues to spread here in Lawrence County. The Lawrence County Health Department Saturday were notified of 7 county residents who tested positive. The cases are unrelated and all are currently under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. Lawrence County now has 339 positive cases with 1 person still hospitalized. The IDPH now reports there have been 374,256 cases of the disease with 9,505 deaths since the pandemic began. The IDPH also announced late last week that 51 counties in the state-over 50% of the 92 are now at warning level for the spread of COVID-19. That number is up from 34 last week. Lawrence County is not on the warning list but Clay, Crawford, Edwards, Hamilton, Saline, Wabash and Wayne in southeastern Illinois are. Counties are placed on the warning list when two or more of the metric risk indicators that measure the amount of disease spread increase.
