Mina Buchanan, age 97, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at her residence. She was born on June 04, 1923 in Reeman, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Johanna (Roossinck) Van Holstyn. She married Clement I. Buchanan on August 06, 1943, and he preceded her on December 15, 2012.

Mina was a homemaker, as well as a fantastic quilter, knitter, and crocheter. She also edited a daily Christian calendar for over 20 years. Along with her husband, she enjoyed traveling on mission trips abroad. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and faithful to her Lord and Savior. Her family will remember her cheerful attitude, despite the debilitating health issues that she faced.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; two daughters, Rebecca Buchanan and Rose Jacobsen; one brother, Walter Van Holstyn; and three sisters, Hilga Buchanan, Mary Sneathen, and Christine Wilson.

Survivors include her four children, Doug Buchanan and wife, Barbara of St. Francisville, Illinois, Joan Pascoe and husband, Paul of Perth, Canada, Arthur Buchanan and wife, Elsa of St. Francisville, Illinois; and Eileen Adkins and husband, Neil of Tehachapi, California; one sister, Lois Klassen and husband, Ralph of Aberdeen, Idaho; one son-in-law, Douglas Jacobsen of Indio, California; 19 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM CST at the Buchanan Cemetery, located six miles south of Lawrenceville on Illinois Route 1. Extended family and friends are invited to a drive through visitation on Saturday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Please approach the funeral home from south 12th Street, and you will be directed by staff to pass through under the awning.
