The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday reported 2,862 new confirmed cases of coronavirus across the state with 49 additional deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department Wednesday was notified of 8 county residents who tested positive. The cases are not related and all are currently under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. With the new cases, the LCHD reports there are now 287 positives locally with 29 of those active. 1 person is hospitalized while 250 people have recovered. There have been 8 deaths. Since the pandemic began, there have been 327,605 cases overall with 9,074 deaths statewide.
