Jasper County is one of the first in southeastern Illinois to institute a “no burn ban” due to the continued extremely dry conditions across the region. County officials there are asking residents to avoid burning anything outside due to the increased risk of fire till further notice. A number of southwestern Indiana counties including Knox have approved no burning bans over the last several days.
