CLARK COUNTY FATAL ACCIDENT

An Indiana woman has died in a single vehicle fatal accident late Saturday night in Clark County. The Illinois State Police report that just before 11 p.m. a 2013 Jeep being driven by 27 year old Shasta Hawes of Paris Illinois was traveling south on a rural county road south of Marshall when she failed to negotiate a curve. The Jeep ran off the left side of the road and then overturned end over end coming to rest on its top. A front seat passenger, 26 year old Alissa Griffith of Terre Haute was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Hawes and another passenger, 23 year old Brandon Devall also of Terre Haute, were not hurt. The crash remains under investigation. Authorities do say that Hawes has been cited for Reckless Homicide, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Improper Lane Usage.
