The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 2,166 new cases of coronavirus across the state Thursday with 25 additional confirmed deaths. One of those occured in neighboring Crawford County with a male in his 70s succumbing to the disease. Figures updated October 1st by the Lawrence County Health Department indicate 265 positive cases locally with 53 of those active. 210 people have recovered and 2 still remain hospitalized with 2 deaths. Meanwhile there were 29 new cases of the disease reported in neighboring Richland County with now 267 positive cases and 8 deaths. Overall since the pandemic began, there have been 295,440 cases with 8,696 deaths in Illinois.
