SOUTHEASTERN ILL UNEMPLOYMENT BETTER

Unemployment rates from July to August have improved in southeastern Illinois as the overall state economy grows stronger. That according to figures released for Lawrence County and surrounding counties by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The IDES says that the jobless rate in Lawrence County in August was 7.9% down from 8.6% in July. Other surrounding counties also saw drops- Crawford from 7.8 to 7.3%, Richland from 7.6 to 6.9% and Wabash from 7.8 to 6.3%.
