Marsha Jean Waldrop

Marsha Jean Waldrop, age 66, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on December 01, 1953 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Dale L. and Mary (Moore) Piper. She married David Waldrop on June 10, 1972 and he survives.

Marsha was a nurse for 47 years, having worked for Dr. Garrett for 30 of those years. She enjoyed going on family trips to Florida, French Lick, and West Baden, as well as spending time with her grandchildren in the pool and attending their sporting activities. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. Marsha’s family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Preceding her in death was her father.

Survivors include her husband, David; mother, Mary Piper and friend, Marion Hankins of Sumner, Illinois; two children, Jodi Wesley and husband, Jess of New Hebron, Illinois and Ryan Waldrop and wife, Lindsey of Sumner, Illinois; one sister, Linda Lentz and husband, Ted of Springfield, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Nicklaus Scherer, Kennedy Waldrop, Maci Scherer, Gavin Waldrop, Quinn Wesley, Westin Floyd, and Annistyn Waldrop.

Private services will be conducted and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
