CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY WEEK

illinois-department-of-transporation-1

This is Child Passenger Safety Week in Illinois and the state Department of Transportation and law enforcement authorities are reminding Lawrence County and other parents and caregivers that Illinois law requires children to ride in a car safety seat until age 8 and in a rear-facing seat until age 2. Proper restraint in a car or booster seat is the best way to protect children from serious injury or death in the event of a vehicle crash. During this week childrens car and booster seats should be checked for proper installation by a certified technician. According to the National Highway Traffic safety Commission, motor vehicle collisions are one of the leading causes of death among children ages 12 and under.
