FIRST COVID-19 DEATHS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,466 new cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 20 confirmed deaths. Lawrence County now has its first deaths from the disease. The Health Department Tuesday reported the deaths of two labratory confirmed COVID-19 positive county residents. Both were females in their 90s. The LCHD is not issuing any additional information regarding the individuals due to privacy laws. Lawrence County has had 238 positive cases to date with 36 active and 200 recoveries. 1 individual remains hospitalized with COVID-19 complications. The LCHD is again stressing to residents to monitor themselves for symptoms of the disease and if any are exhibited, contact their healthcare provider or the agency. Residents are also strongly urged to help prevent the spread of the virus by wearing a face covering, social distancing and frequent hand washing.
