COVID-19 CASES IN COUNTY STILL RISING

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5728 new cases of coronavirus across the state this past Friday through Sunday with 87 more deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of 26 county residents who tested positive from Sunday September 6th through this past Saturday September 12th. Some of the cases are related to an outbreak setting but there are some that are unrelated. All are under quarantine with the exception of two people who are hospitalized and contact tracing is underway. That brings to 229 the confirmed cases with 28 of those active. There have been no deaths. Lawrence and neighboring Crawford County are on the IDPH warning list for COVID-19 of 30 counties with risk indicators that the disease is spreading. This is the second week for Lawrence County on the listing. Since the pandemic began, there has been a total of 261,371 cases of the disease statewide with 8, 309 deaths.
