The Lawrenceville City Council met in regular session Thursday evening and after close to an hour of discussion moved to table a decision on a preliminary subdivision platte of the United Methodist Village property in south Lawrenceville. Mayor Don Wagner indicated that there were questions regarding the condition of sewer, water, storm sewer lines and other infrastructure under the property and the boundaries of the platte. There will be a meeting of all parties involved in the future to discuss the matter. The council did have first reading of the annual tax levy of $515,000 for 2020-21, a 3% increase over the previous levy. It is expected to be formally approved in October. Also approved was a two year contract agreement with the city employees union effective October 1st. It contains a 2 1/4% raise in salaries over the duration and has already been accepted by the union. The city will apply to the Illinois Department of Transportation for the Safe Schools Sidewalk Program for a planned project and approved a resolution of support for the work.
