There could be funding coming to the Mid-American Air Center in 2021 for a major runway repair project. Airport manager Kurt Schwartz told the Bi-State Authority which governs the facility that they have recieved preliminary approval for $2.5 million in discretionary money for the project. Runway 1836 is over 30 years old. Schwartz also told the board that the planned Air-Fair/Fly-In on Saturday September 19th has been cancelled. There has been an inquiry made regarding the airport hosting a Veterans Festival event in 2021 which would honor all local and area servicemen and women. No firm committments have yet been made.
