Lawrence County Coroner Shannon Steffey has released an official statement on a fatal shooting Monday south of Lawrenceville. Lawrence County E-911 Dispatch received a call from a male subject regarding a shooting at a residence south of the city. The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department, Lawrence County Ambulance Service, Coroners Office and Lawrenceville Police responded to the location where 22 year old Lauren Smallwood of rural Lawrenceville was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigation at this time indicates no foul play was involved in the death, but investigation is continuing with the Illinois State Police assisting local authorities. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday to determine the manner and cause of Smallwood’s death
