COVID-19 OUTBREAK IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,992 new cases of coronavirus Sunday with 11 additional deaths. One of those the first COVID-19 fatality in Crawford County. Meanwhile the Lawrence County Health Department is dealing with an outbreak of positive cases over the weekend. 11 local residents tested positive Friday and 25 Saturday. 8 of the Friday cases were related and all of the Saturday cases were related to an outbreak setting. All are under quarantine and contact tracing is underway. The new cases bringing the positive case count up to 115 as of Friday. Lawrence County residents should monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms and if exhibiting them, contact your healthcare provider. The IDPH says that there have been 233,355 cases of the disease in the state since the pandemic began with 8,019 deaths.
