LAWRENCE COUNTY COVID-19 INCREASES

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 1,680 new cases of coronavirus across the state Tuesday with 29 confirmed deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of two county residents who tested positive Tuesday-a male age 56 and a male under the age of 18. Both cases are not related and both are under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. With the 2 new cases, Lawrence County is now at 93 with 32 of those active and 61 recoveries. There has been another hospitalization and still no deaths. Cases continue to rise around the region. Crawford County reported 7 cases Tuesday to raise the count there to 73 with 40 of those active. Wabash and Wayne Counties each had 2 new cases Tuesday. There were no new cases in Richland County but the health department there says there were two confirmed COVID-19 deaths- a male in his 80s and a man in is 90s. Overall, the IDPH reports there have been 223,470 cases of the disease with 7,917 deaths since the pandemic began.
