COVID-19 CASES CONTINUE ACROSS AREA

The Illinois Department of Public Health Monday announced 1,612 new cases of coronavirus across the state with 8 additional deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department reports there were 2 local residents who tested positive for COVID-19 Monday-a male age 36 and a female age 56. The cases are not related and both are under home quarantine with contact tracing underway. With the new cases, Lawrence County now is at 91 positives with 30 of those active and 61 recovering. There has been 1 hospitalization and no deaths. The cases continue to climb in surrounding counties. There were 5 new cases in Crawford County with the total there at 66, Edwards County reported 3 new cases with now a total of 37, Wabash County has 2 new cases with a total of 94. Overall the IDPH says there have been 221,790 cases of the disease since the pandemic began with 7,888 deaths.
