MORE COVID-19 CASES IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,562 new cases of coronavirus across the state Sunday with 24 more deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department was notified of 1 case on Friday-a male age 34 who tested positive. He is currently under quarantine at home with contact tracing underway. 3 additional cases were reported Saturday-females ages 56, 52 and 50 tested positive and are all quarantining at home with contact tracing begun. Those cases bring the total number in the county to 64.  Most have recovered. There have been no hospitalizations or deaths so far. Wayne County in southeastern Illinois reported it’s 2nd death from the disease over the weekend. 14 counties-Bureau, Cass, Clinton, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hancock, Jefferson, Kane, LaSalle, Moultrie, Perry, Union and Will are now at the state warning level for rising cases of the disease. The IDPH says there have now been 206,081 cases of the disease since the pandemic began with 7,744 deaths.
