The City of Bridgeport is looking for help from it’s residents toward completing an application for state grant money. Mayor Michael Craske told the city council Tuesday night that citizens can help by filling out residential income surveys that were sent out by mail and returning them to City Hall by Friday August 21st. Those will then be sent to the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission to be included in the application for additional fire hydrants and water main valves to be installed around the city. The application is for a Community Development Block Grant totalling $530,000 to be submitted in late September. City Superintendent Shannon Selby reported to the council that his department has been working on multiple water leaks around the city and that city sidewalk work is expected to begin in two weeks. The council did enter into an executive session for about 25 minutes to discuss contract negotiations and emerged to take no action.
