There is good news for Lawrence County and other area residents unemployed due to the ongoing pandemic. The Illinois Department of Employment Security has announced 20 more weeks of regular state benefits will be available. The IDES says the extension is kicking in due to continued high unemployment across the state. They say that if you are already recieving benefits you will not have to do anything extra to get the extension.
