The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the second of six $250 million grants to counties, municipalities, and townships to address local transportation needs. The announcement is part of $1.5 billion being distributed over a three year period for projects statewide. Projects include road and bridge improvements, traffic signal upgrades, new storm sewers, bicycle paths, sidewalks replacements and other long-term maintenence needs. Projects will be selected and managed locally with IDOT oversight. Lawrence County will recieve over $91,600 for its use through the grant program while the 9 county townships will get over $289,500 to be divided up for use and the cities of Bridgeport, Lawrenceville, Russellville, St Francisville and Sumner will have over $112,000 divided up for their use.
