The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,772 new cases of coronavirus Thursday across the state with 18 new deaths. That daily total one of the highest in the last 2 months of the pandemic. The Lawrence County Health Department has recieved notification of another case of the disease Thursday. A 78 year old male county resident tested positive and is currently under quarantine in his home with contact tracing being done. The latest updated figures indicate 46 confirmed case in the county with 13 of those active and 33 recovered. There have been no deaths. Meanwhile around southeastern Illinois Wayne County reported 5 new cases bringing its total up to 39, Clay County also reported another case-the 12 there.
