The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that there were 1,393 new cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 18 more deaths from the disease. Updated figures from the Lawrence County Health Department indicate there are 45 confirmed cases. 12 of those are active and 33 have recovered. There have been no deaths. Across southeastern Illinois, Wabash, Wayne, and Edwards Counties all had new cases Wednesday. Overall there have now been 175,124 cases of COVID-19 with 7,462 deaths in the state since the pandemic began. State health officials warn that some areas may soon face new restrictions due to rising infection and hospitalization numbers. The IDPH says that if a region hits a test positivity rate of 8% or more over a three day period, restrictions will be put back in place on that area.
