The Knox County Indiana Sheriffs Department has joined with some other law enforcement agencies across the state in saying they will not enforce or issue citations for failure to comply with Governor Eric Holcomb’s executive order mandating face masks beginning Monday. A statement was issued Thursday by Sheriff Doug Vantlin indicating his officers will not respond to allegations of violations of the mask mandate and the public should not call the department or central dispatch regarding the matter. The sheriff did say that officers will respond to any disturbances or issues that arise. He also encouraged Knox County residents to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
