The Lawrence Unit 20 Board of Education met in special session Tuesday evening and did approve a return to school reopening plan for the district. The move was made after a presentation by building principals and Superintendent Doug Daugherty. The plan offers options of traditional in person instruction at school and online remote learning from home. Parents and guardians have until the beginning of school to choose either option for their child or children. Other aspects of the plan include a shorter school day, individual temperature checks, the use of masks, busing and other student transportation, the serving of breakfasts and lunches, and the non-use of lockers among others. Daugherty emphasized that the plan is still a work in progress and could undergo changes base on state health and education guidelines. Anyone wishing to view the complete Unit 20 plan can visit the district website or Facebook page. School for Unit 20 is set to begin on August 10th.
