The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,187 new confirmed cases of coronavirus across the state Wednesday with 8 confirmed deaths. That now brings the overall total of cases to 153,693 since the pandemic began with 7,226 total deaths. The Lawrence County Health Department reports 14 confirmed cases of the disease with 7 of those active and 7 recovered. There have been no deaths. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger Wednesday announced a new plan to help prevent a resurgence of COVID-19. Under the plan, the state is divided into 11 regions with Lawrence County in the newly-formed East-Central region. New metrics will be used to determine if the virus is becoming a big problem in certain regions and if that happens, there may be restrictions placed on bars, resteraunts, recreational activities and other areas to keep the spread contained.
