The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 883 new cases of coronavirus across the state Monday with 6 confirmed deaths. Lawrence County remains at 12 confirmed cases-5 are active and 7 have recovered with no local deaths. Some southeastern counties have seen rises in their cases recently. White County reported 8 cases Monday bringing it’s total to 18. 2 new cases were reported in neighboring Crawford County with a total of 21 cases there and another case in neighboring Richland County bring the total there to 10. With the spike in COVID-19 in the area, the Lawrence County Health Department is joining with others to remind residents to take the steps to prevent transmission of the disease-social distancing of 6 feet or more, frequent washing of hands and the wearing of a face mask in public.
