national-weather-service

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of high heat for the WAKO listening area Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures in Lawrence County and across the rest of southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana will be in the low to mid 90s and will combine with high humidity to bring the heat index to near 100. This will bring the threat of heat related illness for individuals participating in prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities. If heading outside, drink plenty of water to hydrate, limit activity when possible and take frequent breaks in a cool or air conditioned location. A reminder also to never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle during hot weather.
