The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for high levels of ozone in the air Friday across southwestern Indiana The alert was issued after a combination of high temperatures, light wind and other factors combined to produce conditions where high levels of ozone emmissions exceeding federally mandated standards. People throughout the regions are asked to take actions to reduce ozone emmissions such as using their vehicle less and conserving energy. Children, the elderly and anyone with heart and lung conditions should reduce or avoid exertion and heavy work outdoors.
