Clay County Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney ruled Thursday in favor of 109th District State Representative Darren Bailey and granted his request for summary judgement regarding Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger’s authority to extend his executive orders concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The judge also expanded his decision to affect all Illinois citizens nullifying those actions governing them. The judge did however deny Bailey’s request for summary judgement that Pritzger was wrong to declare the COVID-19 pandemic a disaster. After the ruling, the Illinois State Attorney General’s office indicated that there would be an appeal.
