SOUTHWEST INDIANA INFANT DEATH

An investigation into the death of an infant in southwestern Indiana has resulted in charges being filed against the mother. Reports out of Washington indicate that emergency medical personell were called Monday to an East Van Trees Street residence where a 16 month old child was discovered not breathing. The child was lifeflighted to Rileys Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis. After further investigation, the child’s mother 23 year old Mellissa Aishe of Washington was arrested and preliminarily charged with Domestic Battery and Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. However the child was pronounced brain dead Wednesday and additional charges of Battery and Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death were filed against Aishe. She remains jailed without bond in the Daviess County (Ind.) Security Center in Washington.
