The Illinois Department of Public Health announced there were 546 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday across the state with one here in Lawrence County-the 6th according to the Lawrence County Health Department count. A local resident in their 60s from western Lawrence County tested positive and is currently in home isolation with contacts being traced. No other patient details are being released. LCHD Administrator Amy Marley told WAKO that she was not surprised and anticipated more cases locally as the area continues to reopen and more local testing is done. With the new totals, that brings to 134,185 the number of cases statewide since the pandemic began. There have now been 6,485 deaths total with 87 reported Wednesday.
