Zach Breault is the 2020 Lawrence County Open Golf Tournament champion. The Bridgeport man was outstanding over two days of play this past weekend at the Lawrence County Country Club to win the event with a 10 under par 134 total. He shot a 4 under 68 in Saturdays opening round but still trailed by 2 heading into Sundays final round and then shot a sparkling 6 under 66 to take control from Craig Toler and win by three strokes. Toler finished at 7 under 134 for second. Breault had won in golf at the high school, collegiate, and club levels but had always come up short in his efforts at winning the Open until now. Blake Claycomb won the 2020 edition of the 10 player Shootout Friday defeating defending champ Tanner Gray on the final hole for the win.
