Authorities in White County are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting deaths of two people last Friday in the city of Carmi. Police Chief Jason Carter released a statement saying his department was notified just after 11 a.m. Friday of two subjects at 1604 Hillcrest Drive who had apparently been shot. Upon arrival police discovered a deceased 71 year old female in a vehicle in the driveway and a 72 year old male dead inside the residence. The names of the dead have not been released pending completition of the investigation. Autopsies were scheduled for this past weekend. The Illinois State Police Crime Scenes Unit has been called in to assist the local authorities in the matter.
