The Illinois High School Association has submitted a proposed plan to state health officials about the next step toward resuming sports. Executive Director Craig Anderson says that the organization is moving forward slowly and awaiting further guidance. The proposal is not sport-specific. He expects to hear back in the next week or so. The latest youth sports guidelines released as part of the “Restore Illinois” plan Friday limits actvities to drills, practices, and lessons that do not involve contact between individuals and allow for 6 feet of social distancing to be maintained. Under Phase Three no competitive games are allowed. In a related note, the IHSA has also cancelled it’s planned 2020 Officials Conference scheduled for July 10-11 in Normal. The 2021 Conference will be held at the same location. The IHSA will also offer virtual education for all licensed officials in the future.
