TWO SERIOUSLY HURT IN RICHLAND COUNTY

Illinois State Police say that two people were seriously hurt when the motorcycle they were on hit a semi-truck on U.S. 50 near County Road 300 in Richland County Monday morning. Around 10:40 a.m. a 1988 Harley-Davidson being ridden by 31 year old Caleb Cochran of Clay City Illinois was attempting to pass a Semi being driven by 35 year old Christopher McCarthy of Rinard on the left and collided with the truck when it turned left onto the county road. Both Cochran and a passenger 41 year old Jaime Wilkin also of Clay City were lifeflighted to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries. McCarthy was uninjured. Authorities investigating the accident did ticket Cochran with improper passing and other offenses.
