The Illinois State Board of Elections has now certified the primary election results from March and declared Matthew Hartrich the winner of the 2nd Circuit Republican race to fill the David Overstreet vacancy. Hartrich won the election with 9,863 votes to second place finisher Courtney Cox with 9,730. However Cox has not conceded and this week filed a petition to contest the results. Lawrence County was one of six counties in which votes will be recounted.
