A White County woman has died after being hit by a truck this week. Carmi Police report that 78 year old Pearl Douthitt of Carmi had exited Rock Bottom Liquor and Fuel on Main Street and was walking to her vehicle parked at a gas pump. She was then struck by a 2019 GMC truck owned by Dillman Services and being driven by 23 year old Ezekiel Cruise of Enfield. Cruise told investigating authorities that he was exiting the business drive through and did not see Douthitt. She was lifeflighted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
