ILLINOIS CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported the deadliest day so far in regard to deaths from the coronavirus. There were 125 people who died from the disease Thursday. That drives the total number of deaths from the disease since the pandemic began to 1,072. There were 1,140 new cases reported Thursday bringing the state total to 25,733. Lawrence County remains at two confirmed cases. The Richland County Health Department reports a second confirmed case Thursday as a male in his 70s was diagnosed with the disease. He is in home isolation and his contacts are being traced for potential quarantine. Wayne County now has it’s first case of the virus as a female resident in her 30s tested positive. She also is in home isolation and her contacts are being traced.
